First Tournament, and First Post!
Had a great time today, despite the fact the day started at 8am. Went to my first tournament with my still unpainted 182nd Tragosian Royal Dragoon Regiment of guardsmen. Veterans of the third war for armageddon, they are primarily mechanized and are usually led by an Inquisitor.

A fairly cookie cutter build, and performed I think exceptionally well granted I made quite a bit of mistakes. Ending 4th(?) overall in victory points for the akward scoring system
Game 1: A: Objectives worth 150pts each, B: Kill opponents most expensive HQ, and C: control more table quarters.
My first game was against Carlos, who apparently manages a game preserve store himself I believe he mentioned. Was pretty brutal, he had from what I remember, 3 squads of genestealers to outflank, a warrior brood, two tyranid primes? and perhaps a few others, as I didn't get a copy of his army list. He had first turn, I moved closer instead of backing into the corner my first turn. So he was in assault on first turn already, but made all his reserve rolls for his genestealers to outflank on the second turn, and due to the akward deployment setup, they had ample targets. He nearly tabled me in this game, where at the end I beleive I had maybe a few transports left. Not a great start, Carlos went on to win the tournament, this game definately helped as he had the primary, secondary, and tertiary objectives easily
Game 2: A:Objective in center of table, B: Kill 50% of opponents troops units, C: Control more table quarters
My Second game was against John, and his sisters of battle. For his list I'm not too familiar with witchhunters so I'll kinda summarize it.
hq: canoness w/ mantle of ophelia and blessed weapon
elites: 3 x celestian squads with multi-meltas, sister superior, and holy hatred? 2 x Immolators
Troops: 3 x battle sisters squads, one heavy flamer/flamer, one meltagun/heavyflamer, and one 2 x meltagun, all with vet. sister superiors, with 1 rhino
Heavy: Excorcist x 3
This game started off pretty lackluster, and went that way for the rest of the game. it was fairly even , the objective only picked up once to be lost the next turn and not touched for the rest of the game. Any chance at claiming the objective for myself was lost when both of my vendettas were shot down and both squads inside were pinned on the same turn 5. I managed to eck out a win by holding 1 table quarter to his 0 to claim the tertiary objective.
Game 3: A:Have more units in opponents deployment zone than he has in yours, B: control more table quarters, C: Kill your opponents most expensive HQ
My third game, against Curt(?) His pretty awesomely painted Tyranids, he also won first place on painting job. Didn't seem like he was in a great mood, but I did score him highest on sportmanship out of all my games.. He was nice and friendly, but just wasn't really into it from the start.
His list
HQ: 2 x tyranid prime, 1 with lash whip and bonesword, scything talons, adrenal glands, the other had rending claws and deathspitter
Fast: Harpy, with TL heavy venom cannon
Heavy Support: Tyrannofex with rupture cannon
Troops: 2 x tyranid warrior brood, 1 with deathspitter and tyranid warrior, other with rending claws, and 1 x genestealer brood of 12, with broodlord, scything talons, aura of despair, hypnotic gaze
Lost his harpy turn 1 of shooting, and his tyrannofex right after that, i lost maybe a leman russ and two chimeras, and left him with his two tyranid primes and a warrior brood, my first good game of the day. I claimed the primary and secondary objectives, and left him with the tertiary.
Game 4: A: Control your opponents objective, B: Control your own objective, C: Have more of your units in your opponents deployment zone than he has in yours.
Played against chad, who won 2nd place for painted army. His was my personal favorite painting wise, alpha legion chaos marines
HQ: Chaos Sorc, combi-melta, warptime; Summoned greater daemon
Elites: 5 x Terminators, icon of chaos glory, 3 x chain fists, 2 x combi-melta, 2 x combi-flamer, heavy flamer, term. champion
Troops: Chaos marines, icon of chaos glory, 2 x flamer, champ with melta bombs, combi-melta, power fist
Troops: Chaos Marines, icon of chaos glory, meltagun, missile launcher, champ with power weapon and plasma pistol
Troops: 2 x squads of 5 summoned lesser daemons
Heavy: Obliterators in a squad of 3
Chad really didn't seem like he was having a good time at the tournament at all, maybe he was just tired. The game really didn't go in his favor at all, from the start I wiped out 1 marine squad by turn 2, and kept the other one pinned/gone to ground until turn 4/5, it got very close for the secondary objective around the end of the game, making me real nervouse, but I managed a win here, claiming the secondary and tertiary objectives, with neither of us having the primary.
All in all I had a really great time and am looking forward to the next one!
